The European Commission has awarded four million euros to the Universitat Rovira i Virgili's Martí Franquès COFUND project, which will allow it to contract 50 predoctoral researchers. The recruitment process will take place in 2017 and 2018 and the successful candidates will have be awarded three-year contracts. The University will contribute a further four million euros to the project which will conclude in 2021.
230 representatives from 143 institutions in 29 European countries have converged today on the Main Lecture Theatre at the Catalunya Campus to discuss doctoral training. The official opening of the meeting featured speeches from the URV's rector Josep Anton Ferré, Francesc Díaz, director of the URV's Postgraduate and Doctoral School, and Melita Kovacevic, from the University of Zagreb (Croatia). The meeting will last for two days and has been organised the Council for Doctoral Education (CDE) of the European University Association.
El programa Martí y Franquès de investigación para la atracción de talento de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili, en colaboración con otras instituciones de investigación del territorio, se ha diseñado para atraer 47 estudiantes de doctorado y 2 investigadores postdoctorales. El periodo para acceder en estas convocatorias ya es abierto y termina el 13 y el 17 de junio respectivamente.
The first group of 30 secondary school students to participate in the URV's science workshops arrived on 29 June. In total four groups of 30 students will take part in the week-long workshops which will run until 24 July. They will participate in activities relating to science, technology and innovation at the Sescelades campus and will also be able to enjoy cultural and leisure activities.
The 100 under 50 ranking, which is compiled by the journal "Times Higher Education", has placed the URV in 80th position in its list of the top 100 universities in the world under the age of 50. It is the second year running that the URV features in the top 100 of this ranking, which has been conducted since 2012.
