CEICS researchers publish more than 1,000 scientific articles in one year

The number of articles published during 2010 by researchers at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) along with their colleagues at affiliated hospitals (Joan XXIII in Tarragona, Sant Joan and Pere Mata in Reus and Verge de la Cinta in Tortosa) and research institutes  (IPHES, ICAC, ICIQ, IRTA and the Ebro Observatory) has exceeded the artciles published in 2009. According to data on the Web of Science, which lists professional research publications of the highest prestige and global impact, the scientific production of the researchers making up the CEICS (Campus of International Excellence Southern Catalonia) has reached 1,240 publications -  double the figure recorded in 2005.

The report on the evolution of scientific production of the CEICS alliance bears testimony to a spectacular increase in the number of publications generated by its members, especially since the various affiliated research institutes joined the campus. The scientific output of all the entities comprising the CEICS has increased over the last year, as have co-publications undertaken with researchers from other countries.

In 2010, researchers at the URV published 712 articles, researchers at the hospitals 158, while the research institutes accounted for 322 publications. Without counting joint publications, a total of 950 articles were published. Considering the size of the region, this figure represents a level of productivity higher than the Spanish average, with more than 1,000 articles per million inhabitants.
