The URV’s international Master’s Degree in Euro-Mediterranean Relations (RELMED) receives the MOY seal of excellence

The Mediterranean Office for Youth (MOY) lauded the excellence of the URV’s international master’s and doctoral programs, which promote exchanges between 16 member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). The MOY awarded the program the seal of excellence as well as a package of scholarships for international master’s programs which include obligatory exchanges within the 16 UfM member countries. The Master’s in Euro-Mediterranean Relations (RELMED) is a joint international degree offered by the URV. The preregistration period for the degree has already begun. The RELMED was created in order to offer advanced courses on issues related to the main areas of cooperation in research and technology within the Union for the Mediterranean.

The joint Master’s in Euro-Mediterranean Relations program is coordinated by the UNESCO Chair for Intercultural Dialogue in the Mediterranean at the URV. It is one of five master’s programs coordinated by Spanish universities which have received the seal of excellence.

The RELMED Master’s Degree was created by modifying and older degree program, the official Master’s Degree in Mediterranean Cultural Studies, which was expanded and given a more international scope with the establishment of four different degree tracks to be developed at the following participating universities: Paris 8 University (France), Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), the University of the Balearic Islands (Mallorca) and Saint Joseph University in Beirut. RELMED will have an international teaching staff from more than ten countries, and most participating students will have a multinational background. Several important organizations will be involved in the program, including the European Institute of the Mediterranean, the University Agency for Francophony and the Euro-Mediterranean University – EMUNI.

The MOY seal makes an exchange scholarship package available to students of the program. This is also the first international recognition for the program, which will offer its first course in September 2011.
