Dr Laurent Torregrosa 47, married with 2 childs, is professor of genetics and genomics at Montpellier SupAgro (France). He is graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences from the University of Montpellier (1984, Natural Sciences), a Master of Sciences (1988, Vine & Wine) and a wine-maker diploma (1989) from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Agronomique de Montpellier. Dr. Torregrosa has completed a PhD (1994) and the "Habilitation à diriger les recherches" (2008) from the University of Montpellier. He started to work in 1990 as a research assistant at the "Chaire de Viticulture" (SupAgro-INRA unit) dealing with the genetic engineering of Vitis x Muscadinia hybrids for the resistance to the grapevine chrome mosaic virus. Since 2000, Dr. Torregrosa is involved in several research projects aiming to identify key genes of the regulation of grapevine reproductive development. He is now coordinating a national research program funded by the French agency to investigate the response of the grapevine to elevated temperature and to develop tools for the selection of cultivars adapted to climate changes. He is also coordinating the Euromaster Vinifera labeled Erasmus Mundus which involved 6 Europeans institutions and 11 third countries. During his academic activities, he published 121 scientific publications and communications.
