Dr. Jose M Ordovas (Zaragoza, 1956) is a professor of nutrition and genetics, and director of nutrition and genomics at the USDA-HNRCA at Tufts University (Boston), and CNIC senior collaborator and scientific director of IMDEA Alimentacion (Madrid). Dr. Ordovas’s interest is concentrated on the study of genetic factors which cause a predisposition to cardiovascular disease and obesity and their interaction with environmental factors, especially diet. He has published some 700 original articles, revisions and editorials and several books on this subject, and on the benefits of the Mediterranean diet. Dr. Ordovas is considered to be one of the founders of nutrigenomics. He has received numerous scientific honours over the course of his career and is a member of several royal academies.
