Urban development and architecture

The teaching and research spaces and infrastructures of the CEICS are distributed throughout the counties of southern Catalonia. The structures of the five clusters of specialization (chemistry and energy, nutrition and health, tourism, oenology, heritage and culture) are closely related to the socio-economic environment of the area, which facilitates the creation of links for channeling knowledge to society and the productive sector.

The teaching and research structures of the Heritage and Culture cluster are located in Tarragona. The city accommodates the Faculty of Humanities, which offers undergraduate programmes in history and art history and master's degree programmes in archaeology, and is home to the first Learning and Research Resource Centre (LRRC). The provisional headquarters of the Institute of Human Paleoecology and Social Evolution are also located in Tarragona, as well as the head offices of the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology.
