iMicroQ: quick detection kit for salmonella
A new technological platform for detection of absence or presence of salmonella in feces and skin from chicken samples will allow companies in the agri-food sector detect bacteria without having to send samples to the laboratory, since the results may be known in situ. The new system of rapid detection, which is called QFast Salmonella, has been developed by a group of researchers from the biotechnology company iMicroQ, located in the polygon Riu Clar Tarragona. Each test has an approximate price of 8 euros and is faster than current detection systems. The platform has been validated in the center of quality poultry and Animal feed of the Valencian Community (CECAV) and the results were comparable to those obtained by current detection systems.
