Verge de la Cinta Hospital in Tortosa is a public healthcare centre which belongs to the Catalan Institute of Health network of hospitals. It is the main hospital for the Ebro region, providing a wide range of services, covering practically all healthcare specializations and serving a population of nearly 150,000.
The hospital provides treatment for acute patients and is the centre and model for healthcare provision in the Terres de l'Ebre region. It offers quality care and plays a part in teaching and research as key factors for its future.
Its healthcare activities have recently expanded considerably, as have its teaching activities through agreements with Rovira i Virgili University. The hospital is accredited for postgraduate training in specialities including internal medicine, traumatology and orthopaedic surgery, family and community medicine, gynaecology and obstetrics. It also plays a role in undergraduate training.
The hospital is linked to the Doctor Ferran Foundation, whose basic aims are to foster research and teaching activities carried out at the centre.
